The 6th Annual 727th Transportation Company Chairty Poker Run
The poker run will be held on September 4, 2010, signup starts at 10 am and the vehicles leave at noon, from the Brookings National Guard Armory in Brookings, SD. Everyone is welcome to attend and all monies collected will be donated to the Disabled American Veterans Transportation Network. Avera Health and South Dakota State University dedication
The new Avera Health and Science Center on the SDSU campus with a Sept. 9 ceremony and keynote address by Dr. Julie Gerberding, a public health expert with South Dakota ties. The dedication is scheduled for 1 pm on the university's College Green, just west of the Avera Health and Science Center. The didication will include comments from SDSU President David Chicoine and Avera Health President and CEO John Porter prior to Gerberding's address. An outdoor ice cream social and an open house are scheduled immediately after the ceremony. |

Hockey Registration
From 6-8 pm. New this year is the Brookings Ranger Hometown Hockey League for children ages 7-11. This league will require no travel. All games will be played on Saturday or Sunday at Larson Ice Arena. Children of all skill levels are encouraged to join with a minimal fee to try it until the first of the year. Boys & Girls Club Fall golf Tournament
The Boys and Girls Club of Brookings will be hosting the 2010 Swing Into Fall golf tournament September 9th. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the support of our mission "to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens." The tournament will be held at the Brookings Country club and preregistration is required for this great day of fun. Dance Sensation Rhythmic Circus
Appearing in the first Woodbine Productions Performance of the new school year at SDSU. The dancers will bring their innovative live music and dance production "Feet Don't Fail Me Now!" to the Brookings Performing Arts Center on September 10. All proceeds support competitive scholarships for SDSU music students. Curtain time for the Friday show is 7:30 pm. Tickets are available for $15 adults, $5 for students (688-5187). |

Family Self-Sufficiency hosting a luncheon fund raising
At Homestead Do-It Center from 11 am - 2 pm. For $3 a plate, you get a BBQ, chips, and pop or juice. An extra $1 will buy an extra sandwich. Family Self-Sufficiency is a Housing and Urban Development program that encourages communities to develop local strategies to help voucher families obtain employment that will lead to economic independence and self-sufficiency. |

Cycle to Stop the Cycle
You are invited to the fourth
annual Cycle to Stop the Cycle fundraising bike ride. The ride kicks off at the Brookings
Chiropractic Center on Saturday, September 11th at 9 a.m. with
registration beginning at 8 a.m. There are
routes available to match any level of biking enthusiast; 6, 24 or 40 miles. You
choose your distance! Interested riders
are encouraged to pre-register by September 3, but can also register the
morning of the ride. The registration fee is $30 for individuals and $60 for
families.
