SD Art Museum will celebrate the diviersitym, creativity and excellence of South Dakota artists in "Endless Imagination:  The South Dakota Governor's Third Biennial Art Exhibition."
Honorable mention winners include Vi Colombe of Mission, Nick Fisher of Aberdeen, Scott Parsons of Sioux Falls, Tim Steele of Brookings, Lynn Thorpe of Belle Fourche and Joshua Watts of Vermillion.
A reception for the event will be held on June 13 from 4:30 to 7 pm. sponsored in part by the South Dakota Arts Council.  For mor einformation, contact the SD Art Museum at 688-5423.

Benzer Exhibition

The unique art of Faith Benzer arrived at the SD Art Museum on April 15 as part of a new exhibition called "The Meeting Point - Part 3."  The SDSU associate professor will have his artwork on display in the museum until Sept. 14.

7th Annual Uncle Sam Jam

The 7th annual Uncle Sam Jam on the lawn at the
Swiftel Center, Friday, July 4th!

This event is an entire day of FREE family fun, so don’t miss it!

The day’s events are scheduled to begin a patriotic parade downtown
Brookings at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the parade events will
begin on the Swiftel Center lawn.

Mime and Juggling 101
Discovery Mime Theatre is back by popular demand this summer at the 7th Annual Uncle Sam Jam to be held July 4th at the Swiftel Center. They will teach juggling and some basic mime technique.

Discovery Mime Theatre presents: Mime and Juggling 101
The Brookings Arts Council is proud to partner with the Swiftel Center to bring Discovery Mime Theatre back for the 7th Annual Uncle Sam Jam to be held on July 4. The duo will introduce audience members of all ages to mime with three mini performances starting at 4 p.m. They will also host a mime and juggling workshop. There is no cost to participate. Discovery Mime Theatre's show consists of a variety of original mime vignettes precisely cued to music and brought to life by silent actors, Brian Begley and Mary Inman. All ages enjoy Discovery Mime Theatre's fast-paced stories. Slapstick comedy, juggling and puppetry make their performances unique and captivating. South Dakota Arts Council support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism and State Development and the National Endowment for the Arts.
